NED's Mindset Mission

Our children enjoyed NED’s visit this week.
Never give up.
Encourage others.
Do their best.
After selling a staggering number of yoyo's a NED Zone was set up over lunch time.

Salvation Army Foodbank

We had a wonderful response to our call for canned food for the Watties "Cans for Good" and Salvation Army Foodbank last week.  We managed to collect over 250 cans.  Thank you to the families who supported this cause.

"The Old Town Boys" Band

"The Old Town Boys" band had their first 2 gigs this week.
The first was as the opening act for the Intermediate Super Arts Band competition and the second at the Monrad Intermediate Assembly.

Congratulations Cruz, Saul, Matty and Cam.

Kind Hearts Care Packages

A huge thank you to Korbin for making up another 30 Kind Heart packs this week.  He continues to support this worthy cause and it wouldn't be as successful as it is if it wasn't for him.  Korbin has made posters to display around the school in the hope of increasing the number
of donations we receive from our wonderful community.

Kind Hearts Annual Event

Mrs Kenyon and Mr West took 35 Riverdale students to the annual Kind Hearts Event this week.  There were 22 Kind Heart schools in the Manawatu area last year, this has climbed to 37 this year.  There were just over 820 children at the event.

Mike King, New Zealander of the Year, was the guest speaker, unfortunately he missed his flight so we had to watch him on Skype.  He spoke after the importance of looking after yourself and the health of your family.  He reminded us that we need to be proud of ourselves and what we do for others.

Riverdale came away with awards for Level 1 'Empowering Kindness in the Classroom', Level 2 'Spreading Kindness Across the School' and were one of two schools who received the Level 3 'Spreading Kindness to the Community award'.

Thanks from Neonatal Ward
